Rips & Tassels

Denim jacket- Cotton On/ Boyfriend jeans- Mr Price/ White T-Shirt- Mr Price/ Boots- Timberlands/ Sunglasses- Raybans ( Sold in Sunglass Hut stores)

I am almost done with my studies and that means entering "adult world" and beginning my career. I am at a stage in my life where I am not quite sure what my next step is going to be. I have always been a long term planner,But for some reason I have not quite figured out the steps I have to take to get to where I want to be. I know the destination, but I am uncertain about the path I need to take in order to get to that destination. Does that make sense?

I just feel so anxious and confused. I suppose I feel this way because I am such a control freak and the thought of not knowing what is going to happen next gives me major anxiety. Family and friends can put so much pressure on you. "So, what are your plans for the future?" "Where do you plan on working?". If you don't have the answers, or the answers that they were expecting, then your future doesn't seem so bright. Should I really have everything figured out at 21? Deep down I know I don't have to have everything figured out, but the thought of leaving my life to fate is scary. I have come to the realization that I have to learn to be content and trust that everything will work out the way its suppose to.

Lately, I have been doing more formal polished looks, so I figured I should take it down a notch and do more of a laid back look but still with some edge to it. Boyfriend (ripped) jeans are still very much on trend and don't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. A good pair of boyfriend jeans can be so versatile, it should definitely be a staple piece for every season. I love the tassels at the back of my stone-wash denim sleeveless jacket, cowgirl vibes LOL.

Let me know if you guys like this look. Also, I'd love to hear about your experiences on transitioning into a new stage in your life.

Shades Of White

Shirt- Urban/ Blazer- Mr Price/ Skort- Cotton On/ Heels- Payless

It has been so hot these past couple of days, and I am loving it. I have decided to live a more active lifestyle because besides it being good for your overall health,I really want to get my body right for summer. I went for a morning run a few days ago along the promenade and it was so amazing, I took a few minutes just to marvel at our beautiful ocean and realized how lucky we actually are here in Durban. I find it easier working out In the warmer months than the colder months. The sunny weather just motives me to go in harder. Right now, I am sipping on some detox water and have the kettle on for a cup of green tea. I try to have at least one cup a day of green tea, I really dread it because i find it to be so disgusting. I gulp it down while lukewarm then rush it down with juice. ( Dramatic I know).

Okay, let's talk about the look. There's something so powerful and sophisticated about an all white look. Besides the caution of trying not to get any stains on it, its an amazing way to stand out without being over the top. Some might feel that rocking an all white look isn't worth risking having to deal with a lipstick stain on your top ( which most likely happens) or a patch of foundation from that girl that decides to give you a tight hug because she was oh so happy to see you. Iv had this happen to me. SO NOT COOL. But one must take the plunge sometime.

I came to the realisation that you guys may not know much about me, so i have decided to do the #20FactsAboutMe tag exclusively for my blog.

Side Note: I just would like to thank you for all the support. It means more thank you guys know and I hope this blog, along with its content, will keep you coming back for more.

50s Inspired With A twist

Top & Skirt- Mr Price/ Sunglasses- Mr Price/ Earrings- Mr Price/ Clutch- Mr Price/ Heels- Footwork

I have to say, this is my favourite look yet. I feel as if this is a transition of some sort for me. I really feel that I am discovering my personal style and continuously finding ways of straying from my comfort zone, but still remaining true to myself. How do I brand myself? What do I want to be known for? How can I prevent myself from being predictable? These are questions that have been dancing around in my head for a while now, and I am glad to say that these questions are now being answered.

I am really loving Nicholas Coutts capsule collection for Mr Price. Pastels, amazing silhouettes, sports luxe and touches of metallics some up the collection. His silhouettes are so feminine but have edge to them, I just had to own an ensemble from this amazing collection. This season I am all for 'matchy-matchy sets'. They are pretty and playful and so versatile, you will definitely get a great amount of use out of them as you can pair the top and bottom with different items from your wardrobe.

I was going for a 50s vibe with a twist, with this look. This is definitely something I have not done before and I love that. I hope you guys are enjoying my posts thus far. I really feel I am finally coming into my own with blogging and I am extremely excited about the future and what lies ahead for Kotton&Silk

Touch Of Spring

Two weekends ago I had the amazing opportunity to work backstage at the annual Durban Fashion Fair. Saying that I enjoyed it would be an understatement, I would even go as far as saying it was one of the best experiences of my life. Not many people get to experience the chaos backstage, all they see is the effortless beauty of a fashion show, but a lot goes into the preparation and making it look so effortless. Working backstage was exhausting, fast paced, exhilarating and magical all at the same time. It ignited my passion for fashion and I loved every second of that experience.

We're officially in Spring and I just love how the location of this shoot fits perfectly with the current season, which I might add was not planned. If you guys haven't noticed, I have been doing more lightweight, comfortable clothes that are easy to wear. I love and I am most comfortable in loose fitted clothing, easy yet still chic and stylish. Plain white T-shirts are so simple yet make a huge difference to the overall look of an outfit. I usually don't gravitate towards bright lipsticks because A) I have fairly large lips and B) I have always felt that bright lip colours do not suit my complexion, but I was very much surprised is to how good this bright pink lipstick looked on me. I will definitely be keeping in the spring theme and try out more bright lipstick colours.

So here's my simple yet chic look, let me know what you think :-)

 XOXO
