New York, New York

Skirt- Mr Price/T-Shirt- Cotton On/Denim Jacket- Topshop/Sneakers- Sportscene

New York Fashion Week is in full force and is overflowing with the most mouth watering ensembles and the sickest street style ever. I have been so inspired by the various fashion shows, and moreover the street style. Street style for me has always been more exciting than the actual shows. Street style is raw, unapologetic and so unconventional, I can literally sit for hours marvelling at the amazing street style pictures on my favourite websites and instagram pages. Street style at fashion week is not always about the trends that grace the runways, but more about personal style and expression, and being able to speak volumes (and loudly for that matter) through your clothing. I love the bold statements people make.

New York has been my dream destination for many years. There is a certain buzz within the city that's so profound and evident even though I haven't experienced it first hand- I can only imagine what it must really feel like to walk those streets. There seems to be a sense of fearlessness and risk- taking that lingers in the air, I love that about New York. The way people rush pass one another all having a purpose and a place to go, the skyscrapers and amazing architecture, the endless graffiti art which is splattered across buildings, the exquisite style of its people who look like they running to a Vogue shoot on what just might be a normal day off to the office. It has always and still is my dream to move to the Big Apple, and I plan on making that dream come true sooner rather than later.

About This Look

Since I have been following all the #NYFW shows and coverage and have been totally OBSESSED with all the fashion, I thought it wouldn't be such a bad idea to stop mopping about not being there and just imagine I was, ha! I wanted to push myself and come up with a look that I wouldn't normally choose and wear on a normal day. I love the idea of infusing both formal and casual wear and creating something beautiful. I am into the 'pairing your sneakers with dresses/skirts' vibe, I love how its unusual and not expected, yet it just works! This look is definitely something I see myself strutting in the streets of SOHO AND hailing down a cab, rushing to the next show while being photographed and still looking effortlessly chic. ( A girl can dream, can she?)

This look is sooo New York, what do you think?
